Nichols Street

Today my group consisting of Mr. Mindel, Mr. Barnes, Kelly Mindel, Krista Murphy, Jenn Halaz, Erin Coyne, and myself continued building our deck for a woman named Sherry and her family. Sherry and her family. Sherry had a massive stroke and can only say yes, no and thank you. For our deck, we have all the frame work and decking done. We started on the roof also. Tomorrow, we will be working on the wheelchair ramp. We all got a chance to nail, saw, and measure boards. Besides all of our boards being crooked, everything is coming along great! Jenn found a ruined photo album with pictures still in it! We expect to finish soon! We are all excited and glad to be helping such a sweet family. There are 3 sons who are around 10, 12 and 14. The house itself is slanted but we did some siding and made it look great.

I understand that you learned a valuable lesson today - always ask the lady if she has a wheel chair before building a wheel chair ramp.

Hi Nerinx girls, parents, and Mr. Magee -

I've enjoyed your blog and being able to get a sense of what you're working on, doing, and learning in Biloxi.

I wanted to alert ya'll (did I get that right?) to construction on the way back - the Dougherty Ferry overpass over 270 is being demolished this weekend and 270 will be COMPLETELY CLOSED at Dougherty Ferry (all traffic will be routed in 2 lanes each way off of 270 and then back on). The highway is not expected to reopen until Monday. However, the same was expected when the Tamm Avenue overpass was demolished and the highway re-opened early. So, call ahead sometime on Saturday and ask if 270 is open or plan an alternate route.

Drive safe, and all of us look forward to your return!
